About us
Two cardinal rules for podcasting:
-
Show, don't tell.
-
Provide value, don't sell.
Podcasts are how you show your audience who you are — a trustworthy resource with solutions to share and their best interests at heart. Here’s how that looks:
-
Talk about their pain points. What questions do your front-line staff hear over and over? Answer them in a podcast! Who wouldn’t love a company that clearly understands their customers?
-
Offer solutions. You’re not giving away the barn or the secret sauce or whatever we say these days. You’re establishing yourself as a trustworthy expert who will be top of mind when they need you.
-
Be human. “Authenticity” and “transparency” are buzzwords, yes, but they’re overused for a reason — humans like to know there’s a human behind the companies they frequent. Your voice, your sense of humor, your inability to pronounce “penguin” the same way twice running are what make casual listeners into fans.
When you host a podcast, you have a unique opportunity to speak directly and intimately with your listeners — in many cases, right into their very ears. And we know humans are hardwired for story. Combine a warm, human voice, great stories, and value to share, and you'll create a show — and community — that'll keep listeners coming back.
Shannon Perry
Audiotocracy Founder
Writer, researcher, podcaster, and Audiotocracy’s CEO and Founder, Shannon Perry has been podcasting professionally for several years. She is the writer, producer, and showrunner on the award-winning scripted sci-fi podcast Oz 9. Shannon is a devoted Word Herder whose editing, scripts, and other written collateral help make podcasts shine.
Kim Rieley
Audiotocracy Project Manager
Kim holds the Audiotocracy world together. This superhero lives in Missoula, Montana with her husband and daughter. She is a part-time middle school librarian and does all kinds of other side-hustle-work to make sure she always has something to check off a to-do list. Kim and her family love walking/hiking and having great summer days on Flathead Lake at their family cabin. Kim loves reading and listening to audiobooks. Picking a favorite podcast is like picking a favorite book…impossible. But she does love a good true crime podcast.
Dane Popovic
Senior Editor
Dane lives in Belgrade, Serbia, and is an audio prodigy. After graduating, he worked for local TV and radio stations and freelanced on the side. With the rise of podcast popularity, he began freelancing full-time, finally coming on board with the Audiotocracy team. He is that person on a call whose headphones are bigger than his head, and if you meet him in person, he will likely be that guy who complains about the acoustics at a party or a concert. In his free time, he is closely monitoring the advancement of AI, and how it can help turn bad recordings to studio-like quality.
Pete Barry
Senior Editor
Pete is the co-creator, sound designer, and editor for Mission: Rejected, an audio spy comedy. He has voiced characters on a bunch of fiction podcasts you should listen to like A Ninth World Journal. He’s also a composer and musician and is great at convincing people that he can way too many different instruments, and occasionally several at the same time. Pete lives in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, with his wife and two daughters.
Heather McLaughlin
Administrative Director
Heather McLaughlin, our Administrative Director, is also the owner of Financial Scene Bookkeeping. One of those rare individuals who finds tax laws "fascinating," she is precious and kept in a small bottle under the stairs. When not untangling artists’ attempts to play with numbers, Heather can usually be found reading or running.
Rachel Whitlock
Social Media Manager
Rachel supports our clients through social media management, organization, content creation, and administrative support. She says her favorite part of working with the Audiotocracy team is being part of a collaborative, creative environment where every project helps bring meaningful conversations and stories to life. Wife and mom, when not working, she’s usually cheering on the kids, squeezing in a workout, or doing something creative and impressive.
Shannon Hull
Landscape and Wildlife Photographer
Shannon Hull, whose photography you'll see dotted around this website, is a Landscape and Wildlife Photographer, professional videographer and editor, and winner of 8 National Academy of Television Arts and Science Emmy Awards. Amazed by the natural beauty of this world, she has started picking up her still camera more than her video camera. You can purchase wall art, greeting cards and other keepsakes of her landscape and wildlife photos from her website. Follow her on Facebook and Instagram to learn more.
